About this place
On a hot day, Kishu plum and grated-daikon soba is an appealing choice. Some diners have remarked on the refreshing combination of plum and grated daikon, along with the flavour of the broth. Ikkyuan also serves a hot soba with the same plum paired with oboro kombu, finely shaved kelp. Choose the lighter chilled bowl or warm noodles in broth, depending on the season and your mood.
There is more to the menu than refreshing, light bowls. Options range from hot herring soba and beef-s tendon curry soba to chilled duck seiro soba and conger-eel tempura zaru soba. One diner who visited for lunch on a workday praised the springy noodles and broth, as well as the freshly fried tempura. Another customer who ordered tempura soba noted that the broth contained yuzu peel. Tempura is also available as a side dish, including an assortment of seasonal vegetables. Add it to your soba, or enjoy it with a beer before your meal.
Kyoto fresh yuba soba is another distinctive option. One diner reported having it with chilled soba and inari sushi; the menu also lists a rice bowl centred on yuba, as well as a yuba bowl served with a small portion of soba. You can make lunch more substantial with rice, or keep soba at the heart of the meal. Lunch sets are available from 11:00 to 14:00, with value sets offered from 14:00 until 21:00. Ikkyuan is described as suitable for solo diners, with soba, rice bowls and side dishes available from lunch through dinner.
